After an early breakfast at 8:00 AM, the trek begins around 8:30 AM, leading you through scenic forest trails and open ridges. Around 11:00 AM, you’ll stop at Tolpani, a mid-point rest stop perfect for snacks and a quick break.

By 1:00 PM, you’ll reach the vast, rolling meadows of Ali Bugyal, one of the most picturesque high-altitude grasslands in India. With its endless green slopes and 360-degree views of the Himalayan peaks, Ali Bugyal is often compared to the iconic Windows XP wallpaper for its surreal, dreamlike beauty. It’s an ideal place to unwind, take photos, and soak in the crisp mountain air.

Your campsite at Ali Bugyal offers basic but comfortable amenities including meals, clean restrooms, and cozy tents. To enjoy the trek safely, carry enough water and energy snacks, wear reliable trekking shoes, and pace yourself as you gain more altitude.

Day 4 begins with a warm breakfast at 8:00 AM at the Ali Bugyal campsite, followed by a trekking start at 8:30 AM toward Patar Nachauni. The route offers one of the most visually stunning experiences of the trek as you first cross Bedni Bugyal around 10:30 AM – a peaceful, expansive meadow that, along with Ali Bugyal, forms one of Asia’s largest alpine meadows. The greenery stretches endlessly, offering a calm and surreal backdrop.

Around 12:30 PM, you’ll make a short halt at Ghoda Latauni, located at a striking 13,000 ft. This spot offers dramatic panoramic Himalayan views and is a perfect photo stop before the final stretch. By 1:30 PM, you'll reach the Patar Nachauni campsite at 12,700 ft, where a hot lunch awaits.

Known as the windiest campsite on the trek, Patar Nachauni offers breathtaking views and a raw, high-altitude experience. The campsite provides essential comforts, including meals, clean restrooms, and tented accommodation. Due to the wind and rapidly changing weather, it’s important to layer up, carry snacks and energy bars, and remain aware of altitude gain as your body adjusts to thinner air.

This day combines open meadows, high-altitude exposure, and the thrill of reaching closer to the trek’s alpine core.

Day 5 marks a significant altitude gain as you continue the ascent toward Roopkund Lake. The day begins with breakfast at 8:00 AM, followed by a trekking start at 8:30 AM from Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa. This leg of the journey features steep ascents, rocky trails, and wide-open Himalayan views, making it both challenging and awe-inspiring.

Around 10:30 AM, you’ll stop at Kelva Vinayak, home to the highest Ganesh temple in the world at 14,500 ft. This spiritually significant point is also a great place to rest and take in the dramatic landscapes. By 12:30 PM, you’ll reach the Bhagwabasa campsite, situated at an altitude of 14,000 ft, where a hot lunch will be served upon arrival.

The Bhagwabasa campsite is surrounded by rugged beauty and towering peaks, offering some of the most breathtaking views of the trek. Accommodations include basic tents with essential amenities such as hot meals and clean restrooms.

Due to the steep climb and higher altitude, it’s crucial to carry water, snacks, and energy bars, wear weather-appropriate layered clothing, and stay alert to signs of altitude-related discomfort. Also, note that Bhagwabasa is the last water point before Roopkund Lake, so fill your bottles and gear up for the final push to the summit tomorrow.

This day sets the stage for the most anticipated part of the trek – reaching the mysterious Roopkund Lake.

Day 6 is the most awaited and challenging day of the trek, taking you to the mysterious and iconic Roopkund Lake, located at an altitude of 15,750 ft. The day starts early, with a wake-up call at 3:30 AM, followed by the final summit push under the stars. The goal is to reach the lake by 6:00 AM, just in time to witness the first light over the Himalayas.

At the summit, you'll explore the mysterious Roopkund Lake, known for the ancient human skeletons discovered in its depths. If weather conditions allow, there's an optional steep ascent to Junargali Pass at 16,000 ft – offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.

After spending time at the summit, you'll begin your descent to Bhagwabasa by 9:00 AM, where a hot, early lunch will be served around 11:00 AM. Post-lunch, the trek continues toward Gahroli Patal, a tranquil and scenic campsite nestled at 12,500 ft, reaching there by 5:00 PM.

The Gahroli Patal campsite offers basic tented accommodation with meals and essential facilities. After a long day of trekking at high altitudes, this peaceful spot is ideal for rest and recovery.

Due to the steep climbs and descents, it's essential to carry energy snacks, stay hydrated, and wear proper trekking layers. Be particularly careful while descending, especially if you have knee issues, as the trails can be rough and uneven.

Summiting Roopkund and reaching Junargali is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, blending mystery, altitude, and awe-inspiring beauty.

The final day of your trek begins with a relaxed breakfast at the Gahroli Patal campsite, followed by the descent back to Lohajung. The trail takes you through familiar landscapes—lush forests, serene valleys, and glimpses of the meadows you passed earlier—bringing your Roopkund adventure full circle.

This day is easier on the lungs but a bit demanding on the knees due to the continuous descent. As you drop in altitude, the air gets thicker, and the terrain more familiar. The gradual return to civilization allows time to reflect on the incredible journey—from the dense rhododendron forests and high-altitude meadows to the mysterious lake of Roopkund.

You’ll reach Lohajung by afternoon, where the trek officially concludes. A comfortable stay awaits, offering a chance to rest, enjoy a hot meal, and celebrate the successful completion of this once-in-a-lifetime Himalayan trek.

As always, trek carefully on descents, especially on slippery or uneven patches. Trekking poles and good footwear are helpful in preventing knee strain or slips.
